Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Faro Data collects when you use farodata.io, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable national data protection laws.

We keep this simple because we keep our data handling simple. We run a static website with no user accounts, no marketing automation, and no behavioural tracking.

Data we collect

Data you give us directly

The only way to contact us through farodata.io is via a mailto: link to hello@farodata.io. When you email us, your email client sends us your email address and the message content. We use this solely to reply to your enquiry and, if you become a client, to manage the engagement.

Data collected automatically

farodata.io is a static HTML site with no server-side analytics, no tracking pixels, and no third-party scripts beyond Google Fonts (see Cookie policy). We do not collect IP addresses, session data, or browsing behaviour through any tool we control.

Your hosting provider or network infrastructure may log basic connection metadata (IP address, request timestamp, user-agent) at the network level. We do not access or process these logs for marketing purposes.

Category Data Source Purpose

Legal basis for processing

We process personal data only where we have a lawful basis to do so under GDPR Article 6:

  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — responding to your enquiry, assessing whether we can work together, and communicating during the pre-engagement phase. Our legitimate interest is conducting our business; this does not override your rights where you have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
  • Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) — once an engagement begins, processing contact and project data is necessary to deliver the services you have contracted with us.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — retaining certain records (e.g. invoicing data) to comply with applicable tax and accounting obligations.

We do not rely on consent for any current processing activity on this site.

Third-party processors

We share data with third parties only where necessary to operate the business:

Processor Purpose Data shared Location
Email provider (Gmail / Google Workspace) Receiving and sending email Email address, message content EU / US (SCCs in place)
Google Fonts Serving web fonts IP address (browser request) Global (see cookie policy)

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or share it with data brokers.

Where we engage sub-processors that process personal data on our behalf, we ensure appropriate data processing agreements are in place.

Retention

Data Retention period Reason
Enquiry emails (no engagement) 12 months from last contact Reasonable follow-up window
Client communications Duration of engagement + 5 years Contractual reference; dispute resolution
Invoicing & financial records 7 years Statutory accounting & tax obligations

When the retention period expires, we delete or anonymise the data. You may request earlier deletion subject to the conditions described under Your rights below.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data. To exercise any of them, email hello@farodata.io with the subject line "Data rights request". We will respond within 30 days.

Access Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Erasure Request deletion of your data where no legal basis for retention exists.

We will verify your identity before actioning any request. We will not charge a fee for reasonable requests. Manifestly unfounded or excessive requests may be refused or subject to a fee per GDPR Art. 12(5).

International transfers

Some of our tools (Google Workspace) process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this occurs, we rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, or an adequacy decision to ensure equivalent protection.

Cookie policy

farodata.io is a static website with no analytics platform, no advertising networks, and no social media embeds. We do not set any first-party cookies ourselves.

The only external resource loaded by this site is Google Fonts, which is requested directly from Google's CDN when the page loads. Your browser sends Google your IP address as part of this standard HTTP request. Google may set cookies or log this request per their own privacy policy.

Cookie / request Set by Type Purpose Duration
Google Fonts CDN request Google Functional Serving Inter and DM Serif Display typefaces Session / per Google's policy
We do not use cookies for tracking, advertising, personalisation, or analytics. If we introduce analytics in the future (e.g. privacy-first tools like Fathom or Plausible), this policy will be updated before any such tool goes live and, where required by law, we will ask for your consent.

How to manage cookies

You can control or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking third-party cookies will prevent the Google Fonts CDN request from being logged, but fonts may then be served from your browser cache or fall back to system fonts — the site will remain fully usable.

Browser guides for managing cookies: Chrome, Firefox, Safari.
